I’ve been there. I’ve experienced the hot flashes/night sweats, the mood swings (yes, tears and anxiety too). My first awakening to perimenopause was experiencing painful sex and having chronic UTIs. After a little research I realized the connection between low estrogen and frequent UTIs for women during midlife.
Armed with my PubMed research article, I went to my gyno appointment ready to talk about estrogen replacement. I had science-backed information because I was prepared to be dismissed and not believed. Without knowing it I was advocating for myself. Gladly, I was not dismissed and I received estrogen cream and patches!
